If you had told me not long ago that I'd be shortlisted for a national cruise award, I probably would have smiled politely and thought, "maybe one day…"
But here we are.
And I'm still taking it all in.
This week, I received the news that I've been shortlisted for New to Cruise Extraordinaire at this year's Cruise Stars Awards. Even writing that feels surreal in the best way.
Because while I'm still new-ish in the industry, I've thrown myself in with everything I've got: heart, passion, and persistence.
Where It All Began
I fell in love with cruising as a traveller first.
There is truly nothing like it: the rhythm of the sea, the adventure, the joy. It really does have something for everyone, no matter your age, interests, or travel style.
You wake up to a new horizon each day, and it reminds you how big and beautiful the world is.
And I thought: I want to help others experience this magic too.
When the Doors Didn't Open…
I applied for cruise sales roles, full of hope and excitement.
And the answer was… not yet.
At the time, it stung.
But now I see those "no's" were just redirections.
So I Built My Own Path
I decided: If the door isn't open, I'll make one.
And that's how this little ad-Venture began, built from curiosity, dedication, and love for the cruise experience.
I've been incredibly lucky to have supportive people around me: mentors, clients, colleagues, and friends who believed in me, encouraged me, and reminded me to keep going when I doubted myself.
Moments That Made Me Believe
Some moments have truly made me realise I belong in this industry.
Being selected for an exclusive MSC Yacht Club fam trip was one of them. Experiencing it firsthand was unreal, but what meant even more was the confidence and support MSC showed in me. They believed in me before I fully believed in myself.
And now, I'm also honoured to be working on a group cruise of around 16-20 cabins, something that once felt far away and out of reach.
The trust people have placed in me has been humbling, grounding, and motivating beyond words.
Why This Recognition Matters
Being shortlisted for this award is more than a trophy.
It's a signal that:
- My passion is seen
- My care is felt
- The effort matters
- I truly belong here
And yes, I hope I can win.
It would mean so much.
Not just for me, but because I care deeply about representing this industry well.
But even if I don't win, the nomination alone reminds me to keep growing, to keep learning, and to keep doing this well - for my clients, for my business, and for the cruise community I'm so proud to be part of.
This Is Only the Beginning
I'm still growing.
Still learning.
Still finding my sea legs sometimes.
But one thing is certain: I'm a true cruise fanatic, and this is only the beginning.
To everyone who has supported me, thank you. My heart is so full.
If you're dreaming of a cruise in 2025 or 2026, I'd love to help you plan something magical.
